# Meeting Recorder for Mac

Records the meeting. Writes the notes. Tells no one.

A tiny Mac menu-bar app that records any call — Zoom, Meet, Teams, **no bot joining** — and turns it into a transcript and AI meeting notes, **entirely on your Mac**. Free for 14 days, then $19 once. No subscription, no account.

**[Download free — 14-day trial](https://gensoft.ge/meeting-recorder/download)** · [Buy — $19, once](https://gensoft.ge/meeting-recorder/buy) · macOS 13+ · Apple silicon.

## The three promises

- **No bot in your meeting.** It records the audio your Mac plays and your mic — nothing joins the call, nobody sees "Recording Bot has joined". Works with every meeting app, because it doesn't need to know which one you use.
- **Nothing leaves your Mac.** Transcription, speaker separation and AI notes all run on your own machine. No upload, no server, no account. After the one-time AI-model download it works in airplane mode.
- **One price, once.** Try everything free for 14 days, then $19 buys everything the app does — recording, high-accuracy transcription in 90+ languages, speaker separation, AI meeting notes. Free 1.x updates. No tiers, no subscription, no "Pro".

## How you use it

1. **Before the meeting, click the waveform icon in your menu bar** and pick one of three modes: Record Call (their audio + your mic), Record In-Person (the room around you), or Record System Audio (anything your Mac plays). The icon pulses red while recording.
2. **Click Stop when it's over.** Transcription starts by itself — no buttons, no upload screen, no waiting page. Keep working; the menu shows progress in plain words.
3. **Open your notes.** A few minutes later you have two Markdown files in a normal folder: the full transcript — with timestamps and who-said-what — and AI meeting notes: TL;DR, decisions, action items, open questions, written in the meeting's own language.

First launch downloads the AI models (about 4 GB, once). Until they arrive, a built-in starter model transcribes so the app works from minute one.

## What it does

- **Three ways to record** — calls (their audio and your mic as separate tracks), in-person meetings through the mic, or system audio only (lectures, webinars, videos).
- **90+ languages, auto-detected** — the transcript comes out in your language, and the notes are written in it too. English, Russian and Hebrew get extra care.
- **Knows who's talking** — voices are told apart automatically: in a call you're always "You", the other side becomes Remote 1, Remote 2…; in the room it's Speaker 1, Speaker 2…
- **Notes, not just words** — TL;DR, participants, decisions made, action items with owners, open questions.
- **Echo removed** — no headphones? Your mic hears the other side twice; the app keeps each line once, attributed to the right person.
- **Files you own** — plain Markdown and WAV in a normal folder. No library lock-in, no export step.
- **Works offline** — after the one-time model download, everything works with Wi-Fi off.
- **Honest when it can't hear** — too far from the mic, room too loud, capture interrupted: it says exactly that instead of handing you confident nonsense.

## Under the hood

Transcription is OpenAI's **Whisper large-v3-turbo** running locally through whisper.cpp. Speaker separation is **pyannote** voice segmentation with speaker embeddings, also local. Notes are written by **Gemma 4**, a language model that runs on your Mac's own GPU. All of it ships in or downloads into the app — no API keys, no "bring your own OpenAI account", no setup.

What we deliberately don't do: no video files, no slide OCR, no "chat with your meetings", no accounts, no cloud tier. Three menu items and your notes.

## Everything stays on your Mac

The app has no servers. We have no access to your recordings, your transcripts, your notes, your meeting titles, or the fact that you had a meeting at all. There's no analytics, no telemetry, no crash reporting phoning home. The only network the app ever uses is downloading the AI models — fixed public files, once.

## Frequently asked

**Is there a free trial?**
Yes — 14 days of the complete app, no account, no card details, no feature locks. After 14 days it asks for the one-time $19 purchase.

**Does it work with Zoom, Google Meet, and Microsoft Teams?**
Yes — and with everything else that makes sound on your Mac. It records system audio, so it doesn't care which meeting app you use and never has to join the call.

**Where do my recordings live?**
In a normal folder on your Mac, as WAV audio and Markdown text. Open it from the app's menu. Move them, back them up, delete them — they're just files, and they exist nowhere else.

**Do I need an account or an API key?**
No. Nothing to sign up for, nothing to configure. Download it, click Record.

**Why so cheap when others charge $8–15 every month?**
Because your Mac does the AI work. Cloud note-takers pay for servers every month, so they have to charge you every month. We don't, so we don't.

**What Mac do I need?**
Any Apple-silicon Mac (M1 or newer) on macOS 13 or later. 8 GB of memory works; more makes the AI notes faster.

**What happens to my data if I uninstall?**
Your recordings and transcripts are yours and stay in their folder unless you delete them. There's no cloud copy to worry about either way.
